Valley Central beats Kingston, Roosevelt and New Paltz – Daily Freeman

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — Valley Central High’s girls gymnastics team beat Kingston, Roosevelt and New Paltz Monday to finish unbeaten for the third year in a row.

The Vikings recorded their highest point total of the year (167.3) to turn back Kingston (158.35), Roosevelt (121.2) and New Paltz (33.15) to finish 8-0 on the season in a pair of meets at Epik Athletics.

In a three-school meet between Valley Central, New Paltz and Kingston, the Tigers’ Estelle Sherron won the beam with a score of 8.8.

Valley Central’s Reilly Benson took first in the vault (8.25), bars (8.9), floor (9.0) and the all-around (34.75)

Claire Coiteux of New Paltz tied for fifth in the vault (8.0), finished third in the bars (8.0), was fourth in the beam (8.55), tied for fifth in the floor (8.6) and took fourth in the all-around (33.15).

In the Valley Central/Roosevelt meet, Benson won the vault (8.25), bars (8.9), floor (9.0) and all-around (34.75). She tied for first with teammate Eleanor O’Neill (8.6) in the beam.

Roosevelt’s Julia Meyer was third in the bars (8.7) and beam (8.7) and was fourth in the all-around (33.0).
