Parkin Company, Dubai’s largest provider of paid public parking services, has announced a new variable parking tariff policy, set to be implemented by the end of March 2025.

This update, circulated by the Roads and Transport Authority Dubai (RTA), introduces dynamic pricing across Parkin’s public parking portfolio, based on facility type, peak or off-peak usage, and special rates during major events.

The new pricing strategy aims to manage parking demand effectively, especially in high-density, high-demand areas, contributing to smoother traffic flow throughout the city.

Premium parking spaces will be introduced in key areas, such as Downtown Dubai, Business Bay, and Jumeirah, selected for their proximity to public transportation hubs and commercial activity zones.

These spaces will be priced higher during peak traffic hours, while more affordable rates will apply during off-peak hours.

Key features of the new tariff policy

  • Premium parking: Located in high-demand areas near public transport or major commercial zones, premium spaces will have higher rates, starting at Dhs6 per hour during peak times (8-10am and 4-8pm).
  • Peak versus off-peak hours:
    • Peak hours (8-10am, 4-8pm): Dhs6 per hour for premium spaces; Dhs4 per hour for other public spaces.
    • Off-peak hours (10-4pm, 8-10pm): Current rates remain unchanged, offering more affordable options.
  • Free parking: Overnight (10pm to 8am) and all day Sunday.

Additionally, the new policy introduces Grand Event Hours, where special tariffs will apply during major events such as conferences, festivals, and exhibitions.

Event-specific parking rates will be implemented in surrounding areas, with clear signage and information available through Parkin’s mobile app and website.

Parkin’s implementation timeline

  • February 2025: Parking fees for areas around major events will be activated.
  • End of March 2025: Full implementation of the variable parking tariff, including premium pricing and peak-hour adjustments.

Engineer Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, emphasised that the policy aligns Dubai’s parking strategy with global standards, reflecting the city’s ongoing efforts to improve urban mobility. He noted that the premium parking locations were selected based on factors such as accessibility to public transport and high parking demand during peak times.

Further details on tariffs and specific zones will be provided in a subsequent announcement, following the official enactment of the regulation.
