Policy: As many as 48 per cent of the people elected in the Labor Party have Vestre as their favorite to take over the party leadership, writes Dagsavisen.

This is shown by the People’s Electoral Barometer, a survey among local council representatives around the country. Of Ap’s elected representatives, Kari Nessa Nordtun gets 16 per cent, while Tonje Brenna (15 per cent) and Trond Giske (8 per cent) come in behind.

Øystein HS Moen, who is the general manager of NorgesBarometeret – which is behind the survey, believes that part of the reason why Vestre scores so highly among APS local politicians is that he has steered clear of all the scandals in the party in recent years.

In the same survey, Norwegian local politicians were also asked who they see as the natural heir to Erna Solberg, on the day she steps down as leader of the Conservative Party. Here, former foreign minister Ine Eriksen Søreide scores sky high.

Among Høyre’s local politicians, 57 percent say that Søreide should take over. Behind her we find deputy leader Henrik Asheim (25 per cent) and Tina Bru (7 per cent).
