Weather: The week of 17 May is a classic sales peak for Vinmonopolet, which on average sells around 1.6 million liters a week, according to press officer Jens Nordahl.

– The first peak comes at Easter, the second at 17 May, and by far the biggest at Christmas. The summer holidays are also a peak, but here the curve is a little slacker, he adds ABC News. In the week before Christmas, around 4.7 million liters are sold.

Nordahl says that the weather is a decisive factor for Vinmonopolet’s sales.

– Gray and sour weather is slowing down sales. If, on the other hand, there is good weather with sun and heat, as we are having now, and which has been announced further, it often means increased sales, says Nordahl.

Between January and April this year, sales fell by four percent compared to the corresponding period last year. A long winter with cold, precipitation and other bad weather was probably the cause.

– This was an unusually large decline. It tends to be more even, says Nordahl.
