After months of wrangling and deadlock, the House of Representatives on Saturday approved $61 billion in military aid to Ukraine.

The support package must first go to the Senate before it becomes a reality, and the Ukrainian president asked on Sunday in an interview with the TV channel NBC that it happen quickly.

He is particularly keen to get air defense systems and long-range weapons in place. Ukraine fears that Russia is planning to use the spring to launch a major offensive across the more than 1,000 kilometer long front line.
