Culture and entertainment: The sentence was announced in a courtroom in Santa Fe in the state of New Mexico on Monday.

It was actor and producer Alec Baldwin who fired the fateful shot on the film set in 2021. Director Joel Souza was injured in the incident.

Baldwin has pleaded not guilty and says he did not pull the trigger. Baldwin is also charged with negligent homicide, and his trial will begin on July 10. It is intended to last nine days.

Gutierrez-Reed was also charged with tampering with evidence, based on allegations that she passed a small bag of possible drugs to another person on the film set to avoid detection. However, she was acquitted on this count.

According to the prosecution, Gutierrez-Reed unknowingly brought real ammunition to the filming of the western film “Rust” at a ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe.

Prosecutor Kari Morrissey described a “constant, endless security failure” on the film set.
