After a chilly start in the 30s and 40s this morning, a southeast breeze at 10-20 mph will lead to a milder afternoon in the 60s and 70s.
Skies will be mostly sunny too with a few more clouds moving in late in the day. Increasing clouds later today will signal more moisture that will begin to move in tonight.
Showers and storms move into the area from the southwest during the overnight. They will spread into the rest of the area by Saturday morning with the least amount of activity in Northwest Kansas and Southwest Nebraska.
Saturday will be soggy with showers and storms lasting through the day. More rain is expected Sunday and Monday too with a few breaks at times.
One of those breaks will occur in Western Kansas late Saturday while rain favors Central and Eastern Kansas. So far, severe weather is not expected Saturday.
The heaviest rainfall continues to favor Central and Eastern Kansas through Sunday. This will also be a weather aware day not only due to the rainfall, but also due to the potential for strong to severe storms.
We will need to be aware especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
Showers and storms linger through Monday. As a cold front pushes through the region there will be some rain mixed with snow nearby in Southeastern Colorado but this is not expected to cross the state line.
The threat of severe weather decreases to start the new week too.
Rain chances do not look as good Tuesday once the front pushes all the way through. Wednesday will be dry and cool before more clouds and a chance for rain returns Thursday.
