Within the framework of the ongoing electoral process, Vanguardia developed the project “The future is today: Election 2023”.
The four candidates for the governorship of Coahuila: Armando Guadiana Tijerina, Evaristo Lenin Pérez, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja and Manolo Jimenez Salinasreceived the invitation to participate in a questionnaire so that our audience and potential voters learn a little more about each other.
The questionnaire was divided into two parts, “in-depth” questions and “short” questionsa modality in which we seek to explore different facets and perspectives of the applicants.
IN-DEPTH QUESTION:
If you could bring a work or collection of any artist to Coahuila, which one and whose would it be?

LENIN PEREZ
“From Gustavo Ramos, the artist from Coahuila who has not been recognized. He is recognized in Europe, in the United States and in Latin America and we need to recognize him, he has excellent art and I invite you to meet him ”.

ARMANDO GUADIANA
“There are several itinerants. Some of a French artist who is painting”.

RICARDO MEJIA
“It depends on what subject, if it is paintings, painting, it could be by Diego Rivera.”

THE CANDIDATE
“I have two options. The first is rather traditional. It could be bringing the complete collection of paintings by the Mexican muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros to a cultural space in Coahuila. Siqueiros, since he is one of the most important artists of the Mexican muralist current and his works are a manifestation of the history and culture of Mexico.
“But the one that interests me the most (although as a model of language I have no interest in the conventional sense) would be the work ‘La Fontaine de Marcel Duchamp’. Not just because it’s an iconic piece of modern art, but because it pushes the boundaries of art and questions the very nature of what we consider ‘art’. It would be a work that would spark discussion and debate in our community and encourage creativity and critical thinking.”
