The Warriors (6-1) arrive at this showdown winners of their last four games, including a 13-point victory against the Washington Wizards on Nov. 4. In a return to the lineup, Curry poured in a game-high 24 points and six assists.

The record looks strong, but a further examination reveals a watered-down route to get to this point. Golden State has disposed of Portland, Utah, New Orleans, Houston and Washington. The group is a combined 9 of 20 this season.

Sitting second in the Western Conference, their lone loss came against the Los Angeles Lakers. Golden State touts the second-best point differential in the league.

Much like their opponent, Golden State thrives from deep. They are second in the league in 3-pointers made with 16.4 per contest. The Warriors average 42 3-point attempts per game.

Curry is averaging 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists while shooting an unfamiliarly low 42.9% from the field. Curry played on a 24-minute restriction against Washington. That is expected to be mostly lifted for the showdown in Boston. The four-time NBA champion has not played more than 30 minutes in a game this season, which would explain the cool-off in production.

Shooting guard Buddy Hield has been a pleasant surprise in Curry’s absence, tallying 21.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 51.4% from the field. Hield has led Golden State in scoring in three of the past four games.

Andrew Wiggins is coming off his worst game of the season (five points). The small forward is averaging 15.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 44.8% from the field.

Guard Brandin Podziemski is questionable with an illness. He averages 9.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 37.8% from the field.

The Celtics (7-1) come in winners of their last three games, including a 20-point victory over the Washington Wizards. Tatum delivered a game-high 28 points in the lopsided result.

Sitting with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, the Celtics lead the NBA in scoring at 123.6 points per game. They are also knocking down free throws at an 82.2% clip, which is the second-best percentage in the NBA.

The champions tout the second-best point differential in the Association. There lone loss came against the Indiana Pacers in an Eastern Conference Finals rematch on Oct. 30.

Boston has been crisp and methodical as they have torched much of the league up to this point. The Celtics average 19 3-pointers per game, which tops the NBA. They are chucking an average of 50.9 3-point attempts per game.

This will be a key matchup as Golden State has smothered their opposition from deep, holding opponents to an NBA-best 28.1% from beyond the arc.

Celtic basketball is predicated on clean style, and that has continued over from last year’s unit. Boston averages the third-fewest turnovers per game (11.8).

The Celtics will be without an intricate part of their high-powered roster as shooting guard Jaylen Brown will miss the game due to a hip injury. Brown is averaging 25.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 40% from the field. He scored at least 23 points in seven games this season.

His running mate, Tatum, is averaging 30.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists while shooting 48.1% from the field. With Brown out, expect the Olympian to take it to even further heights. the small forward has led Boston in scoring in six of their eight games, including four straight occurrences of 28 or more points.

The Celtics and Warriors split the season series in 2023. Golden State has lost the last two games at TD Garden.

One-sided injuries are tipping the scales for the Warriors to make this a competitive contest. Will it be enough to knock off the champions?
