I am a disappointed Democrat but feeling very optimistic today, shortly after the Nov. 5 election — almost unburdened by what has been. I feel like a parent who finally realizes it is wrong to label food as good or bad.
Some people will want to vote for Donald Trump again, just like many of our children may want to eat a ton of candy. Our job isn’t to judge the kid for eating the candy or to say it is wrong. Our job is to train our child to develop good eating habits. To take this analogy to another level, our kid is now gorging on candy and is going to need a lot of therapy, as will we parents, to take the judgment out of our kid’s food choices and enable him or her to be able to start learning to make better choices.
