Accidents and natural disasters: The woman is charged under section 355 of the Criminal Code – the so-called “the arson clause». Police attorney Benedicte Granrud said in February to Moss Avis that the woman did not plead guilty to the charge.

Despite the fact that charges have been brought under the arson section, no one died or was seriously injured in the fire.

In the prosecution decision, the state prosecutor writes: “Shortly before Friday 18 November 2022 at 11.25 p.m., she caused a fire to start inside her apartment.” Furthermore, the indictment states that several residents could easily have died if the fire had not been discovered and notified in time.

A total of nine people were sent to hospital and emergency room after the fire. 42 people were evacuated. Both the third and fourth floors of the block of flats were uninhabitable after the fire, and it took eleven months before all the residents could move back home, according to Moss Avis.

The accused woman must appear in Søndre Østfold district court, Moss department, on 10 October. The court has set aside four days for the main hearing.
