Sport: He delivered the harsh verdict to ITV after Sunday’s semi-final at Wembley. Keane had just seen his old club narrowly edge past Coventry after a penalty shoot-out.

Manchester United led 3-0, but lost all advantage during the last 20 minutes of regular time.

– They were lucky in the end. The changes and the first goal gave Coventry their faith back. “Suddenly they looked like a Premier League team in extra time, while United looked like a Championship (tier two) team,” Keane said, continuing:

– We have the same discussions about Manchester United every week. You never know what you will get from them.

Coventry hit the crossbar and had a goal in the 121st minute disallowed for offside following a VAR check. United won 4-2 on penalties.

The FA Cup is the club’s last title chance this season. In the league, United are all the way down in 7th place.

– Manchester United’s players and supporters did not take off because they knew they were lucky today. In the end they were almost embarrassed, but the job was done. They made it to the cup final, Keane said.

The Irishman played for United from 1993 to 2005 and was club captain for much of that period. Among other things, he won the Premier League seven times.
