Zambia goes dark due to power outages

LUSAKA, NOV 25 – Zambia experienced a nationwide power outage yesterday, according to the state-owned power utility company Zesco as reported by the agency Anatolia.

“Zesco Limited informs the people that the country has experienced a power system disruption on Sunday, at 8:15pm local time, causing a loss of electricity supply affecting the entire country.

The company is working hard to resolve this unplanned outage, and the process of restoring power supply is underway,” said Zesco’s acting managing director, Justin Loongo in a statement in the national capital, Lusaka.

Loongo said developments on the situation would be communicated from time to time, adding “we regret the unplanned power outage and hope for the support and patience of our customers.” – Named
