GENEVA, SEPT 26 – The United Nations (UN) special rapporteur on the right to housing said yesterday that a million people in Gaza need immediate shelter before winter arrives.
“A million people in Gaza need urgent shelter supplies before winter arrives. Urgent action is required!,” said Balakrishnan Rajagopal on the X platform.
Israel has continued to launch brutal attacks on Gaza since October last year, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
According to local health authorities, nearly 41,500 people have been killed and more than 96,000 injured since then.
The Israeli offensive has left almost the entire population of the region homeless, amid ongoing blockades that have resulted in severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.
Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza. – Named
