15-year-old injured in early morning drive-by shooting in southwest Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Police were on the scene of a drive-by shooting investigation early Sunday morning in southwest Wichita.

According to the Wichita Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of Greenfield Street and Martinson Avenue just before 3 a.m. for the report of a drive-by. A few minutes later, a shooting call came from the Jump Start in the 2700 block of S. Seneca St.

Sedgwick County Dispatch told KSN that a shooting victim with potentially critical injuries walked into the Jump Start.

The victim was a 15-year-old boy from Wichita who had sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his back.

“During the investigation, officers learned the victim was riding a moped with another minor in the 2700 block of S Martinson when the incident took place. Detectives are interviewing all the involved parties and working to determine what led up to the shooting,” said WPD in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing.
