1,512 IBTE graduates celebrated | Gem Media Online

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, OCT 29 – A total of 1,512 graduates who followed various training programs at Brunei Institute of Technical Education (IBTE) were celebrated today at the 32nd IBTE Convocation Ceremony.

Of the total, 47 graduates consist of TVET Academy graduate trainees, 52 Diploma (Level 5) graduates, 800 HNTec graduates, 522 NTec graduates and 91 more graduates are from the Industrial Qualification Certificate (ISQ).

Today’s ceremony was divided into two sessions, namely the morning session and the afternoon session which took place in the Plenary Hall, International Conference Center (ICC), Berakas.

Present as the guest of honor at the ceremony and completing the presentation of certificates to the graduates in the morning was the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, the Honorable Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by the Imam of Level 1, Masjid Sufri Bolkiah Perpindahan Berakas, Awang Abdul Razak bin Samat and followed by the recitation of the Holy verses of the Quran by IBTE students of the Agrotechnology and Applied Sciences Campus, Awang Wafri Ilmi Azezee bin Zanidi.

Yang Berhormat Dato also presented the Best Trainer Award, Outstanding Academic Award, IBTE Outstanding Award Student Activities Rewards System (STARS) and the Chinese Ambassador Award to selected graduates.

The Chinese Ambassador Award is an integrated program between the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Education and covers students from five higher education institutions including IBTE.

Among other things, the purpose of the introduction is to encourage and encourage more local students to get involved, especially in bilateral cooperation, under the framework Belt and Road Initiative.

In addition, it is also to inject the spirit of inspiration of talented youth who have excellent performance, are always active in contributing to the development of the country as well as encouraging practical cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, the Director of Technical Education and Chief Executive Officer of IBTE, Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, in his welcome speech shared, among other things, that this year IBTE continues to strengthen its commitment in improving student competence through participation in the ASEAN-ROK Mobility Program.

In addition to being able to provide opportunities for IBTE students to undergo training in several ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines.

He further said, “This program provides valuable experience to students, in addition to helping them prepare themselves to face the challenges of the global job market, as well as develop skills at an international level”.

In addition, he also shared IBTE’s involvement in various fields both locally and globally.

In addition to technical and practical skills, IBTE is also committed to the holistic development of students. Therefore, IBTE STARS was created as a platform to support the overall development of students, both from professional and personal aspects.

Among other things, this program aims to encourage students to be active in non-academic activities that can enrich their experience with personal competence skills and increase awareness of social responsibility.

IBTE STARS recognizes and incentivizes students’ participation in extracurricular activities through the awarding of reward points.

The program promotes a balance between health, well-being, and professional growth beneficial for preparation for the world of work.

While in the afternoon present as the guest of honor of the ceremony and then completing the presentation of certificates to the celebrated students was the Deputy Minister of Energy, Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, as Chairman of the IBTE Governing Board.

The 32nd IBTE Convocation Ceremony continued in the afternoon with the presentation of NTec and ISQ certificates to a total of 613 graduates followed by the presentation of Best Student Awards to four recipients.

Also present at the convocation ceremony were the members of the IBTE Governing Board as well as the parents and family members of the celebrated graduates.
