MEXICO CITY, SEPT 15 – A tanker truck exploded in southwestern Haiti on yesterday, killing at least 16 people and injuring 40 others, according to regional civil protection authorities.
Initial reports revealed that the explosion occurred when people tried to illegally collect fuel from the tank after the accident in the Calbassier area, Nippes, reported Xinhua.
Many of the seriously injured were sent to local hospitals for treatment, according to officials.
Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille said on social media that civil protection and public health teams were helping victims. – Named
