1860 Munich wins after goal from 60 meters

A goal of the year by Thore Jacobsen from his own half of the pitch gave TSV 1860 Munich and coach Argirios Giannikis, who is fighting for his job, the much-needed relief in the third division. The 27-year-old midfielder scored his spectacular goal to make it 1-0 (0-0) in Bielefeld against Arminia, who were unbeaten until Saturday, in the 88th minute from around 60 meters.

“I can’t actually shoot that far. I’m lucky that the ball is rolling towards me at speed,” Jacobsen told MagentaSport about his first third division goal for 1860 with his left foot. He looked briefly and then simply dared to shoot.

After a bad pass, Jacobsen saw his chance to surprise the advancing Bielefeld goalkeeper Jonas Kersken. The ball flew and flew and actually ended up in the goal. Kersken could do nothing as he ran back.

“We played a very good first half,” said Giannikis after the second win in the sixth game of the season. “The fact that we scored a goal like that is perhaps karma,” said the 1860 coach about Jacobsen’s incredible goal. The “Lions” moved up to 14th place in the table.
