BEIRUT, SEPT 25 – At least 27,000 people were evacuated from southern Lebanon and the Bekaa region due to Israeli military attacks, Anadolu Agency reported citing Lebanese Environment Minister Nasser Yassin.

Speaking at a press conference after visiting several shelters, Yassin explained the devastation in southern cities, the southern suburbs of Beirut and other parts of the country, forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee to safer areas.

Yassin said that about 252 public schools across the country were converted into shelters to accommodate residents.

Efforts to distribute aid, hygiene kits and food to about 20,000 people have been started in the past 24 hours, he said.

The Israeli army launched airstrikes in Lebanon since early Monday, killing nearly 560 people including 95 women and 50 children, while another 1,835 were wounded, according to Health Minister Firas Abiad.

“Most of the victims of Israeli attacks were unarmed civilians and they were in their homes. This rejects the enemy’s claim about the fighter’s target,” he said. – Named
