There have already been 28 cases of physical assault resulting in death against women in Berlin this year. This was stated by Interior Senator Iris Spranger (SPD). Police President Barbara Slowik added that it was the subject of investigations whether each case was a femicide.
“28 women were fatally injured by a man in Berlin in 2024,” said Slowik. “Whether it was a femicide, whether the motives support a femicide, is something that often has to be clarified in the ongoing investigations.”
The fight against femicide as the “most extreme form of violence against women” is a top priority for the Berlin Senate, said Spranger.
