80 senior citizens compete to memorize Al-Quran

BELAIT, SEPT 5 – A total of 80 senior citizens consisting of 40 men and 40 women from all over the country participated in the National Level Al-Quran Memorization Competition held at the Kampung Pandan RPN Mosque, yesterday.

The competition organized by the Department of Mosque Affairs through the Emarah Division and the RPN Kampung Pandan Mosque Takmir Committee was held in conjunction with the 78th Birthday Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Present as the guest of honor and also presenting prizes and trophies to the winners was the Acting Director of Mosque Affairs, Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri.

For the male category, first place was won by Haji Brahim bin Haji Mohamad with a final score of 91.6, followed by Haji Imran bin Haji Ibrahim and Haji Gapor bin Ahad in second and third place respectively.

Meanwhile, Hajah Amidah binti Ghafar ranked first in the female category with a final score of 92.3 while Hajah Khairul Aini binti DP Haji Abdul Wahab and Hajah Ramlah binti Haji Abd Rahman were in second and third place respectively.
