Verstappen puzzled before the Italian race

Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen is at a loss. After a completely disappointing seventh place in qualifying, the world championship leader is in danger of losing further ground on his closest rival at today’s Italian Grand Prix (3 p.m./Sky and RTL). Especially since second-placed Lando Norris also raced to pole position in Monza.

What really bothered Verstappen was that after a convincing second period of the knockout round, his Red Bull suddenly lost its balance again. “I have absolutely no idea how that could have happened.”

And team boss Christian Horner also stated frankly: “We simply don’t understand it.” Something isn’t working with the car. “First of all, you have to understand the problem, then find out how to solve it and then implement the solution,” emphasised Horner.

Marko: Took a wrong turn

In any case, Verstappen is facing a sixth race without a win. The three-time world champion and defending champion still has a 70-point lead in the standings. However, nine Grand Prix races, including the Italian race, and three sprint races are still to come this season.

“We have to find the point where we took a wrong turn. From Miami onwards. After that, Max won races, but only because of his quality,” demanded Red Bull’s motorsport advisor Helmut Marko on the pay-TV channel Sky.
