After a fire service operation and a signal failure on Saturday evening, the Trains on line S1 in the southwest of Berlin is running as planned again. The disruptions were resolved shortly before midnight, a railway spokeswoman announced on Sunday morning. Previously, the S-Bahn only ran every 20 minutes between Potsdam and Berlin-Schöneberg. The cause was a signal failure in Berlin-Zehlendorf.
A Fire service operation at the Botanischer Garten S-Bahn station caused further problems on Saturday. The route between Zehlendorf and Schöneberg was therefore temporarily interrupted.
A spokesman for the Berlin fire department told the German Press Agency that smoke had developed on an S-Bahn train due to a defective brake system. Because the train was at the stop at the time, all passengers were able to get off. No one was injured. (dpa)
