Marc Marquez (Ducati) secured victory in the MotoGP race at the Aragon Motorcycle Grand Prix, relegating his Spanish compatriots Jorge Martin (Ducati) and Pedro Acosta (KTM) to second and third place. Marquez had already clearly won the sprint race on Saturday and completed a perfect weekend on Sunday afternoon with a confident start-to-finish victory. This ended a nearly three-year drought for the eight-time world champion. It was Marquez’s first MotoGP race victory in 1,043 days.

A manoeuvre by brother Alex Marquez (Ducati) caused a stir when he collided with world champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) in the main race. Bagnaia had to be examined in the medical centre. The defending champion was trapped under the motorcycle when he fell. According to the first examinations at the race track in Motorland Aragon, the 27-year-old Italian did not suffer any serious injuries.

Jorge Martin once again took the lead in the overall standings at the twelfth race weekend of the current season. World Championship rival Bagnaia lost a lot of points due to the crash on Sunday and ninth place in the sprint on Saturday and is 23 points behind ahead of his home race in Misano next weekend.
