The Berlin musician Peter Fox (“Haus am See”) and other musicians from Neukölln have the Columbiabad into a concert area. The “Pool Party” in the evening had only been announced in the morning. Fans needed to pay only a valid summer pool ticket and a valid ID card, as is the rule for outdoor pool guests aged 14 and over in Berlin. Whether on the lawns or in the water: hundreds of mostly young people danced and celebrated. Up to 3,000 fans were allowed into the pool for the event.
“We wanted to do something in a place that has recently received a lot of negative press. Let’s have fun here today!”, Peter Fox was quoted as saying on the Columbiabad’s Instagram page. The outdoor pool in Neukölln was because of violent youths had been evacuated several times. Among other things, two men attacked and beat a security guard. After that, security measures were increased.
The rapper Juju and the rapper Gringo were among those invited to the “Pool Party”. The concert was Part of the free neighborhood concerts.
According to the swimming pool operators, the days of the current summer season in the outdoor pools are numbered. Most summer pools are open until 8 or 15 SeptemberThe bathing season at the Wannsee lido also lasts until September 15th. However, short-term changes are still possible – especially depending on the weather.
The Olympiastadion summer pool will remain open until the end of September and the Kreuzberg summer pool will remain open until the end of October. (dpa)
