The former head of the municipal Bergmann Clinic in Potsdam is the new commercial director of the Protestant Hoffbauer Foundation. The foundation announced this on Tuesday. Schmidt will be formally inaugurated into office on Thursday. Frank Hohn will remain the foundation’s chairman.
Schmidt knows the foundation; together they founded the nursing company Ernst von Bergmann Care gGmbH. He has been working on a voluntary basis on the foundation’s board since summer 2023, it was said. Last October, Schmidt announced his resignation from the position of CEO of the Bergmann Clinicjustifying this at the time with a serious illness of his wife.
He will continue to manage the regional clinic locations in Forst and Bad Belzig. He will work for the Hoffbauer Foundation on a 60 percent basis, it was announced. The foundation named central administration, care, digitization and data protection as areas of work. The Hoffbauer Foundation is active in the areas of education, youth work and care and runs daycare centers and schools, among other things.
According to the statement, Schmidt describes his start at Hoffbauer as a “coming home” to the denominational organization. “I am convinced that the Christian view of humanity is becoming increasingly important, especially in times of crisis and major changes,” says Schmidt, explaining his motivation for joining the Hoffbauer Foundation.
