KOTA KINABALU, SEPT 4 – Several projects to develop the Armed Forces Family House (RKAT) at the Sabah army camp have been approved in an effort to provide comfort to the members of the force.
The Commander of the Fifth Malaysian Infantry Division (5 Division), Major General Datuk Malek Razak Sulaiman, said the construction of 513 RKAT units with an allocation of RM213 million has been approved for Lok Kawi Camp, in addition to additional maintenance allocations for structures such as football fields and drainage systems.
He said, the 5th Division has also received an allocation of RM298 million to develop 601 RKAT units for members of the 5th Brigade Headquarters and the 19th Battalion of the Royal Malay Soldier Regiment (19 RAMD) (Mekanize) in Kota Belud.
He said through the 11th Malaysia Plan, a camp for the 5 Brigade Headquarters and 19 RAMD (Mechanize) was also being developed in Kota Belud with a ceiling cost of RM200 million which had started on 19 April.
“All the results obtained by the people of Nerang Separang (5th Division) are proof of the concern of the Malaysian government and the highest authority of the Army towards the people of this 5th Division,” he said during the Fifth Anniversary Celebration of the 5th Division at Camp Lok Kawi, today.
Malek Razak said that RM120 million has been allocated for the construction of 187 RKAT units at Kabota Camp in Tawau which houses 7 RAMD.
In addition, he said RM547 million had been approved for the construction of a camp and 341 RKAT units for the 13 Brigade team in Felda Sahabat, Lahad Datu, the project had started on Nov 15 last year. – Named
