Encourage a healthy lifestyle through sports

BELAIT, SEPT 4 – A total of 139 students including students with special needs from nine primary schools throughout Belait District competed in a series of sports competitions as part of the 2024 Primary School Children’s Sports Festival for Cluster 6 schools.

The party held on the morning of August 31 at the Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Multi-Purpose Field, Kuala Belait was organized by the Ministry of Education through the Physical and Recreation Division, Department of Co-Curriculum Education.

Present as the guest of honor to present the prizes to the winners was the Head of Cluster 6, Department of Schools, Ministry of Education, Dayang Halizawati binti Haji Kefli.

Among the objectives of organizing the festival is to introduce sports activities that match the needs of physical development and stimulate the growth of children.

In addition, it also aims to foster children’s interest in physical activity, by introducing them to the basics of athletics in the form of games, while promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle through fun in games and sporting events.

Among the four sports activities held as part of the festival include the formula bends, backward overhead throw, hurdles relay and 3 steps bound.

Previously, a similar festival was also held in six school clusters across the country, starting with Cluster 1 on May 12; Cluster 2 on May 26; Cluster 3 on June 9; and more are scheduled soon.
