KUANTAN, 4 SEPT – The Pahang State Health Department (JKN) recommends that the organizers notify any organization of outdoor activities to avoid unwanted incidents due to the current hot and dry weather.

Its director Datuk Dr Rusdi Abdul Rahman said based on the cases received by his side, most cases related to hot weather involved fatigue and heat stroke caused by outdoor activities such as running and hill climbing.

“Some people don’t know (organize outdoor activities) that’s the problem. I suggest that they inform us (JKN), at least we know of any outdoor activities. Then we will channel the information to the nearest health clinic.

“So, when something happens, we already know about it (any incident) and continue to prepare with proper equipment (and immediate emergency measures). The organizers also need to ensure that the track (or any outdoor activity) must have people monitoring it and cannot be left unaware that anything is happening,” he said.

He said this to the media at the ceremony of handing over eight ambulances to hospital directors in six districts in the state at Wisma Sri Pahang which was officiated by the Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

Dr Rusdi commented on the case of a running program participant who died of heat stroke at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) on 25 August. – Named
