Hamas, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in the EU and the US, has said that there is no need for new ceasefire proposals for Gaza and that Israel should be pressured to agree to the US plan, which the Islamist group has already accepted.

It was expected that the US would present a new cease-fire proposal aimed at breaking the deadlock between Hamas and Israel.

The extremist group said in a statement that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had tried to derail the deal by insisting that Israel would not withdraw from the Philadelphia corridor in southern Gaza.

Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, told Bloomberg that the Israeli side is ready to negotiate over control of the Philadelphia Corridor, but only after the end of the war with Hamas.

The situation in the Middle East escalated sharply on October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip unexpectedly attacked peaceful Jewish settlements.
