Two German holidaymakers were killed while hiking in the mountains in Austria. As the police announced on Thursday, a 65-year-old man veered off the side of the path in the Burggrabenklamm gorge near St. Gilgen on Wednesday and fell about 150 meters into the depths.

The Cologne man’s wife made an emergency call, but an emergency doctor flown in by helicopter (archive photo above) could only confirm the man’s death.

On the same day, a 31-year-old German woman from Baden-Württemberg had an accident on the Postalm via ferrata. According to the police, the woman fell about 100 meters over steep and rocky terrain into the Rußbach and was fatally injured. (AFP)
