Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that despite the invitation received by Russian President Vladimir Putin, he will not participate in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit to be held in Russia next month, October 22-24.
Vucic stated that Serbia “will have important guests at that time” as the reason for not appearing.
Vucic recently denied reports of close ties to Putin, saying he had not met the Russian leader since early 2022, when Moscow invaded Ukraine. Meanwhile, many other high-ranking officials in Serbia, including the Prime Minister Alexander Vulinclaim that Russia remains a close ally of the Serbs.
