After Islamist terrorist attack in Solingen The investigators published a poster with a photo of the suspect. This was accompanied by an appeal from the Federal Prosecutor General and the Düsseldorf police to the public – they asked for support. The poster was published on Friday.

“Who can provide information about the person pictured and their whereabouts between August 23, 2024 and August 24, 2024?” read the poster. In addition, the authorities were interested in a special yellow rain jacket, which was also pictured. “Who can provide information about the origin of the rain jacket shown?“ they asked. The exact background remained unclear at first.

On August 23, a man killed three people with a knife and injured others in Solingen. The suspected perpetrator, a 26-year-old Syrian, is in custody. He was not arrested until the evening of the following day, August 24.

One goal of the investigators seems to be to find out where the suspect might have been in the time between the crime and his arrest. North Rhine-Westphalia’s Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) had already said on Thursday that this still had to be clarified. “That’s about 24 hours that we’re missing“, reported Reul in the Interior Committee of the NRW state parliament.
