BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 6 SEPT – The Ministry of Defense held an Al-Quran Khatam Ceremony in conjunction with the Birthday Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. 78 for the Year 1446 Hijrah/2024 AD which took place at Surau Al-Huda, Royal Brunei Navy (RLDB), today.
A similar ceremony was also held simultaneously in all suraus of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Masjid Pulau Baru-Baru.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Second Minister of Defense, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
Also present at the ceremony were the Acting Commandant of the ABDB, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, the deputy commanders of the armed forces, the Commandant of the ABDB Training Institute (IL ABDB), officers and citizens of the Ministry of Defence.
Also present as special guests are the Assistant Fire Chief, Muara Fire Station, Fire and Rescue Department, Awang Murni bin Haji Misir; Senior Customs Superintendent, Muara Branch, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Awang Faizal Bahrin bin Haji Bujang; Head of Serasa Terminal Ferry Control Post, Muara, Department of Immigration and National Registration, Hajah Halimah bin Haji Moktar and Acting Head of Mukim Serasa and Head of Kapok Village, Awang Shahminan bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
The ceremony was followed by the recitation of the Al-Quran and the usual surahs, the recitation of Takhtim and Tahlil in large numbers, followed by the recitation of the Al-Quran Khatam Prayer.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi also completed the presentation of souvenirs to the participants of the Al-Quran khatam.
The Al-Quran khatam ceremony led by Awang Mohd Rif’at Atiyah bin Anwari from the ABDB Religious Affairs Department (JAMA’AT), is a special worshiper before His Majesty the King to express his full sense of gratitude and pray to Allah SWT that His Majesty His Majesty will continue to be blessed with old age and health and will continue to rule Brunei Darussalam.
The annual event is also an outpouring of undivided loyalty to the sovereign yet wise king who is very attentive, caring and has the spirit of the people.
