YEREVAN, AUGUST 12, ARMENPRESS. 12-year-old Gabriela Harutyunyan is preparing for one of the most important tournaments of her sports career, the European Junior and Girls Chess Championship.

Gabriela in 2024 She is the Armenian U12 girls’ chess champion, whose participation as Armenia’s representative in the European Championship is sponsored by Byblos Bank Armenia.

Gabriela has been playing chess since she was 5 years old. She won impressive victories in a number of tournaments, winning the championship title of Yerevan U10 girls, Armenia U10 and U12 girls championships, and the 4th prize of European U10 girls.

According to Hayk Stepanyan, Chief Executive Officer of Byblos Bank Armenia, there is a special interest in chess in Armenia, which is extremely exciting.

“We admire Gabriela’s skill, dedication and victories. We hope that the support provided by Byblos Bank Armenia will promote the development of important chess skills in him, will help improve his ranking and win another championship title,” Hayk Stepanyan said.

2024 The European Youth Chess Championship will take place from August 21 to September 1 in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Gabriela will also represent Armenia at the World Youth Chess Championship this year.
