PARIS, AUGUST 11, ARMENPRESS. Lasha Talakhadze, champion of the weightlifting category of the Paris Olympic Games, wishes further success to Varazdat Lalayan, a member of the Armenian national team and a silver medalist of the Olympic Games.
“I am glad that Lalayan considers it an honor to compete with me. I only wish success to Varazdat. At the next games, when I finish my career, I only wish him a gold medal. It was a good fight. And Lalayan and Minasyan are famous athletes and good people,” said Talakhadze while talking to Armenian journalists, according to the report of “Armenpress” correspondent.
The weightlifting tournament held in the “Northern Arena” of Paris ended with the battle of super heavyweights. Varazdat Lalayan, a member of the men’s weightlifting team of Armenia, current European champion, in the deadlift, successively snatched 210 kg, 215 kg, but did not lift 218 kg. In the push exercise, Lalayan successfully lifted 247 kg, 252 kg, but failed to lift 256 kg. Varazdat Lalayan is the silver medalist of Paris-2024 with the result of 467 kg in the two-fight event.
Gor Minasyan, performing under the flag of Bahrain, held 210 kg, 216 kg overhead in the snatch exercise, but did not fix 220 kg. In the push exercise, Minasyan lifted 245 kg, but could not lift 255 kg with two approaches. Minasyan became the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games with a score of 461.
Lasha Talakhadze from Georgia won the title of the champion of the Olympic Games in this weight for the third time. The latter registered a result of 470 kg in the duel.
