PARIS, AUGUST 11, ARMENPRESS. Weightlifter Garik Karapetyan, a member of the Armenian Olympic team, summarized his results at the Paris Olympic Games.
“I am not satisfied with the results I recorded. I could have done more. If I lift the weights I lifted during training here, I could be second, not third. It didn’t work out here, but I’m not losing hope. I will fight to achieve more. It didn’t work out in Paris, I will try to get the gold in Los Angeles,” Karapetyan said in a conversation with journalists, according to the report of the “Armenpress” reporter. According to the latter, the tension was not great in his first Olympic Games.
“The Olympic Games is very different from the previous tournaments I have had. It is a really special tournament,” said the weightlifter.
Karapetyan successfully lifted 180 kg at the start of the 102 kg weightlifting competition at the “Northern Arena” in Paris, and held 186 kg above his head after two attempts. In the push-up exercise, Karapetyan lifted only 212 kg. He failed to hold 218 kg overhead in two attempts. Garik Karapetyan took the 4th place in the Olympic Games with the result of 398 kg in the two-fight event.
