Does anyone remember the “bogus asylum seekers”? They kept Germany very busy in the 1980s. As problem cases and ancestors of the “asylum tourists”, the snatch dentist appointments from decent Germans. People tend to overlook the continuities of history and politics – especially when current events are happening so quickly. A little extra help can’t hurt. And that’s what filmmaker Cem Kaya provides at the opening of the Gorki Theater’s season in his furious video snippet performance “Pop, Pain, Paragraphs”, which has the telling subtitle “A German Lesson”.
