Defending champion SC Magdeburg and runner-up Füchse Berlin have started the new season of the Handball Bundesliga with victories. SCM won 35:28 (18:16) against HSG Wetzlar at home in front of 6,660 spectators in the sold-out Getec Arena. The best SCM scorer was Omar Ingi Magnusson with nine goals.

In the first half, Magdeburg sometimes lacked concentration, but the hosts were still in the lead at half-time. SCM increased their lead after the break and won the match comfortably in the end.

The Füchse won in a heated atmosphere and with a lot of effort against ThSV Eisenach with 41:35 (19:17). The best Berlin scorers were Mathias Gidsel and Tim Freihöfer with twelve goals each.

The Füchse initially struggled against the hosts’ offensive defense, but as the game progressed, the Berlin team improved in attack. After the break, coach Jaron Siewert’s team continued to push the tempo and the outsiders from Eisenach could no longer keep up.
