BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 8 – A total of 20 members of the Federation of Brunei Malay Teachers (PGGMB) led by PGGMB President, Cikgu Awang Haji Alim bin Awang Haji Othman attended the ASEAN+Korea Teachers Council Conference (ACT+1) 38 which took place at Berkeley Hotel Pratunam, Bangkok, Thailand starting from September 6 to September 8.
The conference witnessed the participation of approximately 900 delegation members representing ASEAN countries and Korea where the conference started with the 38th ACT+1 Leaders’ Meeting and was followed by a dinner meeting to welcome the presence of the delegates.
At the ceremony, the Secretary General, The Teachers’ Councul of Thailand, Assistant Professor Dr Amonwan Werathummo in his welcome speech expressed his appreciation to all members of the delegation present for providing support and solidarity for the conference.
38th ACT+1 Conference with theme Promoting Happy and Sustainable Schooling in Education which was run by the Teachers’ Council of Thailand which included a variety of programs including the 38th ACT+1 Official Opening Ceremony, keynote presentations, panel discussions, country reports for each country participating in the conference, parallel sessions, friendship evenings and closing ceremonies.
During the national report session, Brunei Darussalam highlighted a presentation by the Principal of Katok Secondary School, Cikgu Penroose Saleha binti Haji Mohammad Salleh entitled An Innovative Approach to Learning and Teaching Through the Integration of Digital Technology.
Meanwhile, the paper from Brunei Darussalam was presented by PGGMB School Teacher Sungai Akar, Cikgu Dayangku Nur Akmal Khairunisa binti Pengiran Rosli in a parallel session.
With the presence and discussion of the relevant delegates, the progress of education in ASEAN countries and their respective countries can be improved towards higher quality and competitiveness in this challenging current of technological development.
