After several hours of disruption to train traffic due to a technical fault, everything has been running as planned since Sunday morning. No further effects on rail traffic are known, said a spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn (DB). On Saturday afternoon, there were significant restrictions on rail traffic in central Germany due to an IT fault in the Rhine-Main area. Affected trains waited out the fault.
According to DB Regio, all regional and S-Bahn traffic in the Rhine-Main area was affected. The disruption was not resolved until late afternoon and train services resumed. However, disruptions continued until the end of operations.
A spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Transport said on Saturday that they assumed there was a technical defect. The cause was probably a power failure.
