The women of Union Berlin pulled off a surprise in the DFB Cup against Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. In a hard-fought match, the second division team won 1-0 (1-0) at the An der Alten Försterei stadium and moved into the round of 16. In the men’s competition, the clubs and fan groups are always at loggerheads with each other. This is why there is also a rivalry among the women.
The Saxons had several good chances in the first half. Lydia Andrade (6th minute) and Marleen Schimmer (45th+2) missed from the best positions. The Iron Ladies did better. A header from Eleni Markou landed on the inside post. Dina Orschmann was able to easily score (40th).
