Harapan Ku Project helps less fortunate women

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 8 – To help and provide skills to a large number of less fortunate women in Temburong District, the Community Welfare Council (MKM) has launched the Harapan Ku Project which took place at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital today.

Present as guest of honor and subsequently launching the project was the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of certificates of participation and boxes of sewing equipment to the 11 project participants presented by the guest of honor of the ceremony and MKM’s Yang Di-Pertua, Awang Mohd Yusof Halim.

Earlier, an explanation about the Harapan Ku Project was given by Datin Paduka Intan Kassim as the project’s chief facilitator.

She shared that the project aims to improve the living standards of disadvantaged women who are registered as MKM clients, by providing them with the tools, training and resources needed to set up a sewing business.

In addition, it also serves as economic empowerment where the project empowers them to generate stable income, which not only improves their financial stability but also improves their self-esteem and socioeconomic status.

At the ceremony, the guest of honor and other special guests had the opportunity to witness a mini-exhibition displaying the handiwork of Project Harapan Ku participants.
