KOTA KINABALU, SEPT 9 – The final judgment of the Dutch Supreme Court which rejected the Sulu group’s appeal regarding the Sabah issue, is a special gift for the people of Sabah in conjunction with the celebration of Malaysia Day and Sabah Day 2024.
The president of Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said, his party will continue to support all the government’s efforts to ensure the safety and interests of the people of Sabah and Malaysia are protected at all times.
“Thank you for always defending the sovereignty of Sabah in Malaysia.
Malaysia’s victory in the Dutch Supreme Court over the Sulu group’s appeal is good news for all the people of Sabah.
“This decision proves that Sabah is sovereign within Malaysia. It thus ends the claim of the Sulu group which Sabah has never recognized since the beginning,” he said, who is also the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, in a statement today.
He said, PBRS expressed its congratulations and appreciation for the commitment and efforts of the Unity Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which is so serious in ensuring that all claims by outside parties on Sabah can be canceled immediately.
Last Friday (September 6), the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Legal and Institutional Reform), Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said announced that the government had obtained a final important victory in the Dutch Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of Malaysia, and dismissed the appeal filed by the concerned party.
The judgment in Malaysia’s favor effectively nullified the claim put forward by the group. – Named
