But it is often served as a snack during afternoon tea.

There are various ways to make cucur prawns with the main ingredients being flour, prawns and water.

Depending on the ingredients used and how they are fried, you can get the texture of the outside of cucur prawns usually crisp and crunchy, while the inside is soft with pieces of prawns.

Depending on individual preferences, some people prefer peeled shrimp with the shrimp filling chopped so that the flavor is better mixed with flour and other ingredients than shrimp fried with the skin on.

Cucur prawns are usually easily available in restaurants, stalls and night markets and are even tastier if you make them yourself.

Cucur prawns that are still hot can be eaten on their own or with a variety of dipping sauces such as chili sauce, peanut sauce or sambal.

INGREDIENTS

Briefly speaking, the ingredients needed to make a prawn dish are like 250 grams of prawns (clean and remove the heads if you want), 1 cup of wheat flour, ½ cup of water (more if necessary), 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of baking powder , 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of black pepper or to taste, ½ cup of finely sliced ​​leeks and oil for frying.

METHOD OF PREPARATION

The way to prepare cucur shrimp is, first prepare the mixture in a bowl, mix wheat flour, baking powder, salt and black pepper and mix until smooth. Then mix the eggs and water, break the eggs into the mixing bowl and mix until smooth. Add water little by little until the mixture is thick, but still pourable.

After that, add the shrimp and spring onions into the mixture and mix until smooth.

Then heat the oil in a pan over medium heat, making sure there is enough oil to fry the cucur perfectly. Then take a tablespoon of the mixture and spoon it into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crisp, about 3 to 4 minutes. Repeat until all the batter is used up.

After that, lift the spatula and drain it on kitchen paper to remove excess oil and it’s ready to be served and eaten hot with chili sauce.
