JOHOR BAHRU, 10 SEPT – Three schools in the Johor Bahru (JB) district implemented home teaching and learning (PdPR) sessions today following odor pollution.

Chairman of the Johor Education and Information Committee Aznan Tamin said the school in question is the Kampung Maju Jaya National School (SK) as well as two private schools, the Hidayah Islam Primary School and the Hidayah Islam Middle School.

He said SK Kampung Maju Jaya involved 974 students and 64 teachers, Hidayah Islamic Primary School 1,232 students and 92 teachers while Hidayah Islamic Secondary School (807 students, 75 teachers).

“So far (PdPR) today only first, (extension) depends on the current situation and reports,” he said when contacted today.

Yesterday, SK Kampung Maju Jaya was closed after 27 students experienced symptoms of dizziness and vomiting believed to be due to the smell pollution that occurred in Kampung Maju Jaya and Kampung Tawakal here.

It was reported that all the students involved received initial treatment at the school by doctors and nurses from a health clinic, with only one being referred to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.

The Menteri Besar of Johor, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi is reported to have said that he wants the Royal Malaysian Police and related agencies to conduct an investigation to deal with the pollution issue as best as possible. – Named
