Google must pay the 2.4 billion euro fine imposed by the EU Commission in 2017. The European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg confirmed a corresponding ruling by the previous instance, the General Court of the European Union, on Tuesday. The fine was imposed because Google had placed its own price comparison service at the top of the search results and thus, according to the Commission, had abused its dominant market position.

A ruling has also been reached in the dispute between the EU Commission and Apple over around 13 billion euros in back taxes: the tech giant has suffered a final legal defeat. The judges in Luxembourg overturned a previous ruling in Apple’s favor. (dpa, AFP)
