In Saxony, ten days after the state election, representatives of the SPD and the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) met for a conversation. “The meeting took place in a very pleasant and constructive atmosphere,” said a statement issued by both regional associations in Dresden on Wednesday. Both parties said it was important to get to know each other personally and to build trust.

After the election in Saxony on September 1, the formation of a government is complicated due to the majority situation. Participation in government without the AfD, with which none of the other parties wants to form a coalition, is only possible with the BSW.

However, federal party leader Wagenknecht had already attached conditions to this before the elections. For example, she demanded that no US medium-range missiles should be stationed in Germany.

Before the meeting between the SPD and BSW, Saxony’s Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer had already met personally with Wagenknecht on Monday. The next step was to meet representatives from the CDU and BSW. (AFP)
