Good news for Lola Weippert: The tumor discovered in the TV presenter’s (“Temptation Island”) breast a few weeks ago is benign. Visibly relieved, the 28-year-old said in a video on Instagram that she had received a call from her doctor after her biopsy. “Everything is fine. It’s a benign tumor in my breast and I’m so infinitely grateful right now.”

She was scared and worried. Now it feels “as if you can just accept this gift called life again and carry on living.” In mid-August, Weippert announced that a tumor had been discovered in her breast and that a so-called punch biopsy was pending.

This is how a punch biopsy works

Often only the removal and examination of a tissue sample provides final clarity as to whether a change in the breast is benign or malignant. In a punch biopsy, a small amount of tissue is removed from the new growth using a hollow needle, usually under local anesthesia. Many changes in the breast are benign and do not increase the risk of breast cancer.

The influencer once again called on her more than 700,000 followers to go for a check-up at least once a year. “This biopsy to get clarity might hurt a little, but afterwards you’ll know what’s going on,” she said. “Please, please, please go for a check-up! I’ll pray that so often until you all make an appointment.”
