The European Central Bank (ECB) is lowering interest rates in the euro area. The deposit rate, which is the benchmark on the financial market and which banks receive for money parked at the ECB, is being reduced by 0.25 percentage points to 3.5 percent, the central bank in Frankfurt announced.
